At PowerCem we believe in durability. Recent independent testing showed that after 28 days our Zeolite based RoadCem soil stabilisation product reduced swell to negligible levels and reached a respectable 168 CBR after 28 days in soak when treating Mercia Mudstone tunnel arisings with a TPS of 3.5. (see results chart below)
Whilst these results look impressive what really counts is resilience to degradation. Structural failure occurs through penetration of corrosive or harmful agents, these can be weather and/or soil borne.
PowerCem is a Nano technology with product less than 20nm. Reducing porosity and increasing the ability of construction material to withstand mechanical strain caused by heat, cold, shear forces and chemical degradation.
It has always been difficult selling resilience or long-term durability as a future benefit. I imagine Claudius Maximus the Project Manager for the Colosseum in Rome telling Ceaser that the concrete would be an extra 5 Denier but would last for a thousand years.
We could quote the “Faarfield” simulation software results which after testing the RoadCem stabilised soil Runway Base at Guadalajara Airport (second largest in Mexico) predicted a lifespan of 2,309.6 years with a CDF = 0.01.
Another factor concerning long term durability in bound product relates to CO2 in the environment which through carbonation is gradually absorbed into the product, lowering pH levels and strength. PowerCem reduces CO2 absorption retaining the optimum pH and long-term integrity.
For stabilising weak, organic or sulphate bearing soils, whether they are granular or plastic RoadCem is the strong answer.
