Expansive plastic subgrades, expensive granular materials & flooding risks.
Expansive plastic subgrades, expensive granular materials and risks of flooding are all familiar problems for the highways engineer here in the UK. Highway construction engineers in the Brazilian Amazon region face similar problems, but have found different solutions. Challenges in the Construction of Highways in the Brazilian Amazonia Environment
What is the difference between Cement stabilisation and stabilisation with RoadCem added?
What is the difference between Cement stabilisation and stabilisation with RoadCem added? When stabilising soils with cement the hydration reactions are characterized by an early heat release after the initial mixing, then a dormancy period of about two hours in which no heat is released. After this during a 2 to 3 hour period further […]
Dredged sludge to Flexible cement bound material with PowerCem see report by Delft University
Contaminated Dredged Sludge Moerdijk Harbour Project 2008/9 Carried out by Arcadis BV The sandy sludge dredged during the Moerdijk Harbour reconstruction in 2008 was found to be highly contaminated by oil and a cocktail of hazardous pollutants. A big problem with these and other dredged sludge’s is that the water content in the sludge is […]
RoadCem Soil Stabilisation for reducing concrete slab base requirements
RoadCem for Large Shed Project Flipbook
20th Anniversary of RoadCem Soil Stabilisation in the UK?
Last year we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of RoadCem in the UK. Well on looking through the Dutch archives recently we came across the following report of a large soil stabilisation project carried out for Tesco Stores on a very difficult looking site close to Great Yarmouth exactly 2o years ago The following detailed report […]
A tiny amount of ConcreCem can make a massive difference to the lifespan of structural concrete
The addition of ConcreCem to concrete provides enhanced durability and longevity. This cannot easily be calculated and expressed in money saving terms, it is however easy to see how this improves whole life embedded carbon savings. Whilst it still remains difficult though to calculate the true costs of repairing and replacing concrete structures. In the […]
Constructing road base from virgin stone is unsustainable FACT. Actually it could also be unnecessary.
Based on extensive repetitive testing on a DYNATEST heavy vehicle simulator, Arcadis Holland using BISAR pavement design software were able to show that a RoadCem in-situ stabilised soil road base can outperform a traditional stone road base, by an unbelievable margin. Providing big saving in cost, carbon and build time.
nanoindentation testing of RoadCem Concrete
Two blocks of concrete were tested at the University of Ulster. Each had the same mix: 1111 kg/m3 of dry clay – 480 kg/m3 of CEM 11 – 366 kg/m3 of water One block had 4.9 kg/m3 of RoadCem added. Please read the full report, the nanoindentation test results were very different. Ulster University nanoindentation […]
Nano Zeolite Cement Modification for Soil Stabilisation
The Nano crystallization process developed by PowerCem Technologies is created by applying a mixture of soil of any kind (organic and inorganic), synthetic zeolites and cement. The porous and intricate nature of zeolite structures allows for the total hydration of the mixture, uniquely this allows cement to be hydrated to 100%, reducing cement requirements by […]
Safety issues with Piling Mats
All piling mats and crane working platforms must be constructed with rig and crane safety as the main design criteria. PowerCem Technologies in the UK, manufacture a cement modification product RoadCem, which based on zeolite Nano technology radically changes the way cement binds soils. The brittle particle gluing bind which takes place when cement alone […]
